Fake spring
It isn't spring and I am not enough of a rube to put my winter coat away….my momma didn't raise no fool. Look, the daffodils are almost blooming in my yard!!!
About that fool thing, maybe I was wrong. I have had a bit more time to watch the flowers slowly grow this week--in my haste on Monday morning, I fell on the steps that lead from my deck to the driveway. As a physics teacher pointed out, gravity always wins. Ouch. A self assessment confirmed that I was hurt, not just hurting (I am a doctor, you know) and a real doctor confirmed the diagnosis later that day. Ribs, and soft tissue damage--I have bruise across my back that I bet exactly matches the middle step. Good Job, eh?
Of course I did this before, about 4 years ago. I did it more severely then, but this one still hurts. The novelty of good drugs wears off pretty quickly. After all, how many hours can you spend just watching how cool it is to make your fingers move? I am mostly fine now, and off the heavy stuff. I really only notice it when I stand or sit or cough or sneeze or wash my hair or lay (lie?) down or bend or reach or roll over or tie my shoes or change the laundry and a few other times, so I hardly notice it.
Who cares. It is supposed to be in the 40s most of the week--maybe those daffodils might even make a try for it.
